Toegankelijk, tactisch tweepersoonsspel. Probeer zoveel mogelijk lapjes op je dekentableau te leggen. Zorg niet alleen dat het lapje past, maar houd ook rekening met de tijd die het inpassen kost en de inkomsten die het in knopen genereert. Uiteindelijk krijg je namelijk zoveel punten als het aantal knopen dat je hebt minus tweemaal de onbebouwde velden op je speelbord. Bouw je als eerste een deken van 7 x 7, dan scoor je bonuspunten! In Patchwork zijn jullie niet persè afwisselend aan de beurt. Wie in tijd achterloopt, is zolang aan de beurt tot zijn tijdsteen de ander heeft ingehaald. Dit kan leiden tot interessante dilemma's. Omdat de lapjes altijd in een andere volgorde om het speelbord liggen, is geen spel gelijk. Door de eenvoudige spelregels in combinatie met tactische uitdaging is Patchwork leuk voor iedereen!
Gameplay
Patchwork is a tileplacement game by the famous Uwe Rosenberg. At the start all patchwork tiles are placed randomly in a big circle on the table, a pawn is placed besides the smallest tile. Each player gets a playerboard and two buttons. There is also a time track, which keeps track of whose turn it is.
On your turn you may place the pawn 1, 2 or 3 pieces forward, taking that particular piece and paying with time and buttons (sometimes you gain buttons as well!). You than place the patchwork on your playerboard. Carefully choosing your moves, you get to fill up your playerboard and try to score the most points in the end.
Thoughts
Patchwork is an easy to teach tileplacement game. However, as with more tileplacement games, the challenge lies not really in understanding how the game plays, but in the puzzle itself! Shall I put this piece here, or shall I wait for the possibility of another and take that piece? I highly appreciate a good puzzle!
I like Uwe Rosenberg games, this one no different! It has its own Automa, designed by the Automa Factory. It consists of a small deck of cards, taking away some tiles and gaining buttons for points. I really like this solo variant!
There is some player interaction, tiles can be being taken away from right under your nose. But besides this it's just you and your own little puzzle.
If you like tileplacement puzzly games, this is a good one, that will not disappoint!
