How to Save a World

As one of the leading scientific researchers in the galaxy, you’re in high demand. For the past two years, you’ve been stationed on Alarria, a small terrestrial planet several light-years from Earth. Your field research into the planet’s diverse indigenous fauna has already yielded incredible results.

But your days as a simple scientist are over.

An asteroid roughly the size of a small country has been picked up on radar, hurtling towards Alarria — a planet killer. If nothing is done, the world itself may cease to exist.

Three desperate plans have been set into motion, each with only a razor-thin chance of success:

1. Planetary Laser Defense
   A powerful orbital laser is tracking the asteroid’s approach and will fire as soon as it comes within range — in hopes of reducing it to rubble.

2. Energy Shield
   An immense energy barrier may be strong enough to deflect the asteroid’s trajectory, saving Alarria at the last moment.

3. Mass Evacuation
   In a final effort to preserve life, scientists prepare to evacuate species to Fortuna, a nearby forest moon tested to support life — and thankfully out of the blast zone. Every moment counts as evacuation ships load with Alarria’s most unique inhabitants.

The Game

How to Save a World is a worker-placement game with hand-building and resource management elements.

• Each turn, players assign workers to critical tasks or play action cards to advance their chosen project.
• At the end of each round, the asteroid’s progress is assessed — and Alarria moves one step closer to impact.
• Victory hinges on choosing wisely where to dedicate your limited resources.
